The Mike Pollom Memorial Scholarship
Fund

The Mike Pollom
Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to needy students of
Coachella
Valley
High School, Coachella, California
.
The fund operates through the Desert Community Foundation of Palm Desert,
California. The scholarships are awarded by a committee consisting of teachers and
counselors of Coachella Valley High School and Fund chairman, Norm Pollom, long
time NFL personnel director and scout, father of Mike Pollom. Mike Pollom,
personnel scout with the NFL New England Patriots, died at age 48, from cancer.
The scholarship
fund goal is to provide tuition for deserving students, with a new recipient
each year. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need, merit and effort. To date, thirteen students have received four year college sponsorships: Eight have graduated and five are still in school and receiving scholarship funds of $8,000 per year. Fund
raising is accomplished through an annual golf tournament and by tax-deductible
donations (see links below).
The fund is staffed entirely by volunteers and
over 96% of proceeds go directly to scholarships.
